How are you doing? My English teacher, Mr. Brady, ask us to write something about
poetry, life and nature. And my only opinion on these three is that life sucks, I don’t see nature in Shanghai, and I don't like poetry. They exist for some good reasons, I am extremely bad at poetry, I never get to know the hidden meaning between conversations. Never knowing what they really want me to do. Poetry here like an upgraded conversation, coded, like a puzzle, a riddle that you have to solve but you have absolutely no idea where to start from! Maybe it’s just have something to do with life experience, but for us, those who grow up surrounded with steel and iron and plastic, what do we know about nature. I have never seen a daffodil field so how am I suppose to know whether I like it or not? Maybe I’m even allergic to the pollen. These poets, showing off their wonderful, enjoyable life, where they forget about time, forget about anything, just to enjoy the nature. For us, it’s just repeating Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Homework day and Review day. What’s the fun in that? The only way I could reach out to nature is through movie, vacation (with mostly urbanized cities waiting us to come) and poems. Poems that describe how fantastic their life were. Sometimes I really feel that they just wrote these poems to mock us. If given the chance I would rather live in a poor country side house with nature surrounding me. Enjoying the icy rivers, and the warm winds in summer. Gathering berries and apples in fall and have field trip in spring. In winter, I would hide in my cozy little sofa just next to the fireplace, the snow would fall outside and I would be eating cakes. Yes, cakes, they were always my favorite, especially when you have chocolate cakes decorated with those cute little strawberries and blue berries, which often reminds me of the Smurfs. Hot chocolate milks are great too, with some marshmallows on top, reminds me of snow. Thinking about a lot of things, day dreaming is always my favorite activity. Day dreaming is fun, you somehow get to experience the time between awaken and asleep. It’s like your body is awaken but your mind is already escaping from this world, into some other mysterious dimensions. Anyways, forget about all these things, Happy New Year.
