One for Sorrow two for joy is about birddom’s struggles with an evil population of birds. The magpies intend on total conquest and one opposed by the last of the robins, Kirrick, and the snowy owl, Tomar. Along with some drastic moves and daring escapes, there is also romance, violence and a surprise. In fact, the ending left me sick to my stomach, which the magpie died. The one character who deserved to triumph, doesn’t, and honestly, I ended up feeling more empathy for Traska than I did for the ‘good gays’.
It’s said that this is a story book for children, however, most of the readers said that nobody fail to learn something in this storybook. Instead of honor, love and integrity, this book resonates with hatred, cruelty, genocide, suffering and revenge. With a heart full of love, the bad guys never fail to gain the battle.
Still, the author is a good writer, just not so good a storyteller—it could have been better, I admit also, I did lesten to this as a book on CD, and I don’t think I would have like it as much if I had read the book, but people who did a reading did a great job. I also have to admit, then I will never look at crows and magpies the same and after finishing this book I had the sudden urge to go out and shoot some crows.
The One for Sorrow Two for Joy is a really great book, you should read it sometime and you will learn something about love.
